Fluval Digital Aquarium Thermometer
No probes, no cables – just stick it on the glass and read both temperatures at once. The Fluval Digital Aquarium Thermometer is a 2-in-1 wireless unit that adheres to the outside of your tank below the waterline and reads water temperature through the glass, alongside the ambient room temperature, on a single LCD display.
It suits freshwater and saltwater aquariums and is accurate to within 1°C (2°F) of the true reading. Because there's no submersible probe or cable to route through the hood, it's a tidy option for anyone who doesn't want more hardware sitting inside the tank.
Key features
- 2-in-1 reading – shows water temperature (sensed through the glass) and ambient room temperature on the one display.
- No probe, no cable – adhesive-mounted to the outside of the aquarium glass, so nothing sits in the water.
- Large LCD display – switches between °C and °F.
- Accurate to within 1°C (2°F) of actual temperature.
- Battery powered – runs on a single LR44 cell, included.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
- Suitable for freshwater and saltwater display tanks where a clean, external, wireless read-out is preferred over an in-tank probe.
- Not the right choice if you specifically want a submersible probe thermometer that sits in the water – this unit reads through the glass from the outside instead. Fluval also sells a separate submersible digital thermometer if that's what you need.
Care and maintenance
Wipe the display and adhesive pad clean of any salt creep or algae film during routine tank maintenance so the reading stays accurate. Replace the LR44 battery when the display dims or drops out.
Goes well with
- A Fluval aquarium heater, so the thermometer and heater's own thermostat can be cross-checked against each other.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by your rights under Australian Consumer Law if it arrives faulty, damaged or not as described. Fluval hasn't published a specific extended warranty term for this model on the sources we could check – ask us if you'd like this confirmed before you buy.
Common questions
Does this have a probe that goes in the water?
No. It's a wireless 2-in-1 design – the whole unit sticks to the outside of the glass and reads the water temperature through it, so nothing sits in the tank.
Can it read the room temperature as well as the tank?
Yes – that's what "2-in-1" refers to. It shows water temperature and ambient room temperature on the same display.
Is it accurate enough to rely on?
Fluval states an accuracy of within 1°C (2°F) of the true reading, which is a reasonable margin for day-to-day monitoring rather than precision dosing or breeding work.
Will it work on a saltwater tank?
Yes, Fluval markets it for both freshwater and saltwater use.
What battery does it use?
A single LR44 cell.
